Setting the Stage for a Grand Casino Resort
In a recent letter to the City of Lake Ozark, ORGC disclosed its partnership with Bally’s Corporation for a cutting-edge casino project. The proposed location, spanning 20 acres of the Eagles’ Landing Phase 4 property, is poised to redefine the resort landscape. The remaining 70 acres are earmarked for a comprehensive redevelopment, featuring a hotel, convention center, restaurants, and shops.
Beyond Tradition: No Obligation for a Riverboat Casino
Breaking away from the conventional riverboat casino model, ORGC enjoys flexibility under Missouri law. The state's definition of legal casinos as "excursion gambling boats" has evolved to include non-floating facilities. While ORGC explores this latitude, it must adhere to certain guidelines. The chosen location, within 1,000 feet of the Osage River floodplain, complies with state regulations.
Navigating Regulatory Waters
Missouri's gaming regulations mandate that casino facilities must secure licensing from the Missouri Gaming Commission. With only 13 licenses available, competition is fierce. Additionally, the amended 2021 definition requires gambling properties to incorporate at least 2,000 gallons of water within or beneath their structures.
Charting a Course for Amendment
While ORGC charts a bold course towards reshaping the Eagles' Landing Phase 4, an amendment is on the horizon. Securing permission to construct on the Osage River adds a layer of complexity to the project. As the casino saga unfolds, the collaboration between ORGC and Bally’s Corporation promises a unique addition to the Lake of the Ozarks.
