New Licensing Fees Unveiled
Curaçao's finance minister, Javier Silvania, has unveiled the licensing fees that will be imposed under the forthcoming National Ordinance for Games of Chance (LOK). These fees will govern both Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Consumer (B2C) licenses, marking a significant shift from the current regulations.
B2C Licenses: Changes Afoot
Under the current law, there is only one license type, which combines B2B and B2C operations. Surprisingly, the application fee for this license is zero. However, the annual fee is set at ANG36,000, with a monthly fee of ANG7,000, covering up to 40 domains.
With the LOK's introduction, B2C license applicants will face a ANG9,000 application fee, along with one-off due diligence fees ranging from ANG250 to ANG500 per person, depending on their role. The annual fee will increase to ANG48,000, with a monthly fee of ANG4,000. Additionally, a fee of ANG500 per annum per domain will be required, and there is no limit on the number of domains.
B2B Licenses: Similar Changes
For new B2B licenses under the LOK, the fees mirror those of B2C licenses, with an ANG9,000 application fee and one-off due diligence fees based on the role. The annual fee remains ANG48,000, but there is no monthly fee, and domains are not applicable for B2B licenses.
LOK Implementation Timeline
Curaçao's new licensing process commenced on September 1st, with the Gaming Control Board (GCB) opening the license application portal. This portal aims to handle applications under the current legislation and register sublicensees for LOK implementation. The LOK's full enactment will occur in the near future, shaping the future of gambling in Curaçao.
