Rising Spending, Lower Handle
In November, the state of New Hampshire experienced a notable rise in player spending on sports betting, with a total of $78.5 million wagered. While this may seem like a substantial sum, it marked a 15.7% decrease compared to the $93.1 million wagered in the same month the previous year. Nonetheless, it was 2.0% higher than October's performance and represented the highest monthly total in the state in the past eight months.
Online Dominance
Out of the total wagered amount, a significant $67.9 million was placed in online bets, while $10.6 million was bet at retail sportsbooks across New Hampshire. Online sports betting accounted for the lion's share of wagering revenue during the month, amounting to $6.6 million, while retail betting contributed $1.6 million.
DraftKings Remains Dominant
DraftKings continues to be the exclusive operator offering online sports wagering in New Hampshire, securing these rights in November 2019. This exclusivity has helped the platform thrive in the state's sports betting market.
Tax Revenues
The state collected $3.6 million in taxes from sports betting in November, with $2.9 million coming from online betting tax and $711,830 from retail wagering.
Year-to-Date Performance
Despite a decrease in spending, the year-to-date performance in New Hampshire remains promising. Players wagered a total of $298.9 million in the first five months of the year, a 14.3% drop from the same period in 2022. However, the revenue remained consistent, reaching $30.0 million, just slightly below the $30.1 million reported at the end of November 2022.
