Cordish Plans Groundbreaking Ceremony for Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana

The Cordish Companies are set to make waves in Louisiana's gambling scene as they kickstart construction on Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana. The highly-anticipated groundbreaking ceremony, taking place on December 13, will feature the company's chairman and president.

Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana will be a massive $270 million project and signifies The Cordish Companies' first foray into Louisiana's commercial gaming market. This marks the third state where the company has ventured into gaming.

This new endeavor involves the transformation of the former DiamondJacks Casino Resort in Bossier City, which The Cordish Companies acquired from Foundation Gaming earlier this year. The acquisition not only secured the property but also the coveted gambling license, allowing Cordish to launch its own operations.

Originally a riverboat casino, the property's transition to a land-based casino is in response to changing regulations and the impact of natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic. The Cordish Companies are set to modernize the hotel and develop the property into a state-of-the-art resort.

The groundbreaking event will be attended by David Cordish, Chairman of Cordish, and Rob Norton, President of Cordish’s Gaming Group and Live! Casinos. The refurbished casino is expected to open its doors in early 2025, promising to generate substantial tax revenue. Within five years of operation, it is estimated to contribute over $35 million in gaming taxes to the city and $168 million to the state.

Live! Casino & Hotel Louisiana will feature a 500-room hotel and multiple restaurants, creating around 750 new jobs and offering opportunities for local businesses. The Cordish Companies, known for their successful gaming properties, are excited to bring their expertise to Louisiana's thriving gaming industry.
