Unfortunate Incident Sparks Legal Action
In a tragic incident that occurred during Wynn's Super Bowl event on February 13, 2022, Billie Sakkab suffered a cardiac arrest while playing slots at the Wynn Las Vegas casino. Her family has now taken legal action, asserting that Wynn's employees were ill-equipped and failed to intervene promptly, even neglecting to use a portable automated external defibrillator.
Allegations of Negligence Against Wynn
The lawsuit, filed with the Clark County District Court, highlights several oversights on the part of the resort, including negligent hiring, training, retention, and supervision. It further accuses Wynn of negligent security, gross negligence, and wrongful death.
Lack of Adequate Preparation for Emergencies
Sakkab's family argues that none of the Wynn employees assessed her condition or attempted to save her life due to a lack of proper training. The lawsuit also claims that Wynn did not adequately prepare for medical emergencies, failing to anticipate increased guest presence on the gaming floor, which could result in such emergencies.
Delayed Response Raises Questions
Wynn Resorts' employees called 911 at 5:54 pm, but the exact time of Sakkab's passing remains unclear. It took six minutes for the Clark County Fire Department and an additional nine minutes for the Medic West ambulance to arrive on the scene. Unfortunately, Sakkab passed away at 6:47 pm.
Family Seeks Justice
The lawsuit is spearheaded by several family members, including Sakkab's widower, Nabil Y. Sakkab Sr., as well as Nabil Sakkab, Nabil Sakkab Jr., and Tiffany Pond. Wynn Resorts has expressed its commitment to presenting the facts surrounding the incident and ensuring transparency throughout the legal process.
