Delaware Lottery Launches First Online Sportsbook and Revamps Online Casinos
The Delaware Lottery has taken a significant leap into the world of online gambling by launching its very first online sportsbook, powered by Rush Street Interactive (RSI) and BetRivers. The sportsbook quietly debuted on December 27th and has garnered substantial attention in its initial week of operation. Now fully operational, the sportsbook offers a wide array of betting options covering both professional and collegiate sports, with choices ranging from spreads and moneylines to player props and same-game parlays.
Alongside the online sportsbook, Delaware has witnessed a transformation of its existing online casinos. These will continue to be operated by Delaware Park, Bally's Dover Casino, and Harrington Raceway & Casino.
RSI's triumphant bid to power Delaware's online gaming platform followed a competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) process that also involved 888. Ultimately, RSI emerged as the sole contender after other interested parties withdrew their bids.
RSI has entered into a five-year contract with Delaware Lottery, with the possibility of extensions. Delaware Park and Harrington Casino & Raceway can be accessed through the BetRivers multi-state app and website, while Bally's Dover Casino has its dedicated app and website.
Delaware Lottery Director Helene Keeley expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, citing RSI's track record of success in neighboring states like New Jersey and Pennsylvania, as well as their commitment to responsible gaming and exceptional customer service.
RSI CEO Richard Schwartz added, "We are thrilled to begin this historic and much-anticipated launch of the new online sportsbook and casino. Delaware customers are going to love the convenience of wagering on their favorite sports, slots, and table games from anywhere in the state."
This strategic move by Delaware Lottery comes after mixed results in November, with an increase in online gaming revenue but a decline in sports betting earnings. In November, igaming revenue reached $1.1 million, up 13% year-on-year. However, sports betting revenue dropped by 62.3% compared to the same month in 2022.
Overall, Delaware's foray into online gambling is poised to bring exciting opportunities for both operators and players in the state.
