New York Betting Operators Set New $188.3M Revenue Record

Mobile sports betting in New York has been on a meteoric rise, with operators consistently surpassing milestones. October saw the state's operators record an astonishing $2 billion in wagers, a first-ever feat for any state in the USA. The trend continued into November, marking the second consecutive month with wagers exceeding $2 billion.

However, New York's mobile sports betting market shows no signs of slowing down. According to the New York State Gaming Commission, December 2023 saw betting operators amass a total betting handle of $2.04 billion, coming tantalizingly close to November's all-time high of $2.11 billion. What's more, mobile sports wagering gross gaming revenue (GGR) for December hit a new record, standing at $188.3 million. This marked a substantial $37.4 million increase compared to the $150.9 million GGR posted in November.

Comparing the year-over-year results for December reveals impressive growth. In December 2022, mobile betting operators reported a betting handle of $1.62 billion, a figure that skyrocketed to $2.04 billion in December 2023. This represents an impressive increase of nearly 26%. Mobile sports betting GGR for December also witnessed a substantial year-over-year growth of approximately 33%.

FanDuel and DraftKings Maintain Their Dominance

Notably, FanDuel and DraftKings continue to lead the New York market. FanDuel secured the top spot with a betting handle of $834.5 million in December, generating sports wagering GGR of $93.6 million. This translated to $45.8 million in net revenue for the platform provider and $47.7 million in net revenue allocated to education.

DraftKings followed closely with the second-highest betting handle, reaching $773.4 million, resulting in $31.9 million in net revenue and $33.2 million for education. Caesars Sportsbook and BetMGM also demonstrated strong performances, solidifying New York's position as a major player in the mobile sports betting landscape.
