PENN Breaks Ground on New Hollywood Casino Joliet

PENN Entertainment marked a significant milestone on December 13th as they initiated the construction of the future Hollywood Casino Joliet, a project estimated at $185 million. This new development, situated within the RockRun Collection, will not only offer a fresh gaming experience but also contribute to the growth of a commercial and residential area. Here's a closer look at what this eagerly anticipated entertainment complex has in store.

The Hollywood Casino Joliet is set to offer a gaming extravaganza with approximately 850 slot machines and 44 live table games, including a dedicated baccarat room. For sports enthusiasts, there will be a retail sportsbook, ensuring there's something for everyone. In addition, visitors can indulge in high-quality bars and restaurants, promising an all-encompassing entertainment experience.

Beyond the gaming floor, the Hollywood Casino Joliet will feature a spacious 10,000-square-foot event center, providing a venue for various gatherings and events. With approximately 1,330 parking spaces, accessibility won't be an issue for guests.

The project is expected to create 450 construction jobs and a further 515 permanent positions once the facility is operational. Jay Snowden, CEO & President of PENN Entertainment, expressed his enthusiasm, highlighting the advantageous location and accessibility of the new Hollywood Casino Joliet.

The decision to construct a land-based casino stemmed from a law signed in 2019, allowing riverboat casinos to make the transition. During the construction phase, the existing Hollywood Casino Joliet, located on the Des Plaines River, will continue its regular operations.

This exciting venture is part of a more extensive plan, including four new growth projects in Aurora, Illinois; Columbus, Ohio; and Henderson, Nevada. Gaming and Leisure Properties is committed to investing up to $575 million out of the $850 million budget for all four projects. The future Hollywood Casino Joliet promises not only an enhanced gaming experience but also a boost to the local economy and entertainment scene.
