Richard Flint, a key figure in the world of gaming and betting, is set to step down from his role on the Flutter board of directors. The announcement was made in a press release to the London Stock Exchange on January 11th, 2024, adding an intriguing twist to the company's upcoming AGM scheduled for May 1, 2024.

Flint's journey with Flutter began in March 2020, following the merger of Flutter Entertainment and The Stars Group Inc (TSG). His experience and leadership have been instrumental in the company's growth and development. Notably, Flint served as the executive chair of Sky Betting & Gaming until October 2019, playing a pivotal role in its success over the years.

John Bryant, the chair of the group, expressed gratitude for Flint's contributions: "The board wish to thank Richard for the considerable value and strategic insights he has brought to Flutter during his tenure and acknowledge his tremendous contribution to the development of the Sky Bet business since its inception in 2001. We wish him success in the future."

Flint's decision coincides with Flutter's proactive approach to navigate the changes in the UK's gaming landscape following the release of the white paper in April 2023. CEO Peter Jackson emphasized their leadership position, stating, "We've been pretty clear that we're leading the race from the UK perspective."

Flutter's Q3 results showcased impressive growth, with UK & Ireland revenue up by 11.2% to £566 million. The online sector saw a remarkable 11.5% growth, reaching £494 million, while retail revenue increased by 9.1% to £72 million. The company's continuous growth in the US market also played a significant role in its success, with group revenue rising by 7.6% year-on-year to £2.04 billion.

Flint's departure follows other significant personnel changes on Flutter's board in 2023, including the stepping down of key figures like Jonathan Hill, Gary McGann, and Mary Turner. Despite these changes, Flutter-owned FanDuel has remained a consistent revenue generator, achieving remarkable growth in Q3 2023 and solidifying its position as a leader in the US sports betting and online casino industry.
