MGA Takes Decisive Action

In a significant development in the gaming industry, the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has officially revoked the authorization of Betago Limited. This decision, announced on Thursday, is effective from January 8, 2024. The MGA's action comes as a response to Betago's violation of established gambling regulations in Malta.

Previous Suspension Leads to Cancellation

Prior to this cancellation, Betago had its license suspended last year, which prevented the operator from offering its gambling services online. The MGA's latest move directs Betago to settle all outstanding fees owed to the regulatory body within seven days of the authorization's cancellation. Additionally, the operator is obligated to refund all funds due to legitimate players, aligning with Malta's Gaming Act, Chapter 583.

Compliance Requirements

To ensure compliance, the MGA demands a comprehensive back-end report and relevant bank statements from Betago within seven days. This verification process aims to confirm that the operator has indeed issued refunds to all players with remaining balances in their accounts.

No Mention of MGA Allowed

Betago is now prohibited from referencing the MGA on its website, as directed by the gambling watchdog. The MGA insists on the immediate removal of any mention of the Authority and its authorizations, in accordance with article 51 of the Act.

Broader Regulatory Measures

The stringent action against Betago follows the recent suspension of Rush Gaming's license by the MGA. The Authority stated that Rush Gaming has the option to appeal the decision under Article 43 of Malta's Gambling Act. Effective from January 9, 2024, the suspension means that Rush Gaming can no longer provide online gambling services but must ensure registered users have access to their accounts and receive refunds for any outstanding funds.

These developments emphasize the MGA's commitment to enforcing gaming regulations and maintaining a fair and transparent gaming environment in Malta.
