MGA Cancels Betago's Authorization
In a significant move, the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has announced the cancellation of Betago Limited's authorization, effective from January 8, 2024. This decision follows the revelation of multiple breaches of Malta's gambling regulations by the operator.
Previous Suspension
Before the authorization was canceled, Betago faced a suspension of its license last year, which halted its online gambling services to players.
Outstanding Fees and Player Refunds
The MGA has directed Betago to settle all outstanding fees owed to them within seven days from the authorization cancellation date. Additionally, the operator is obligated to refund all legitimate players' money, in compliance with Malta's Gaming Act, Chapter 583.
Compliance Verification
To ensure compliance with these requirements, Betago must provide a back-end report and relevant bank statements within seven days. This step ensures that all players who had funds in their accounts receive their refunds.
No Mention of MGA Allowed
Furthermore, Betago is prohibited from referencing the MGA on its website, as instructed by the gambling watchdog.
Recent Suspension of Rush Gaming
This action against Betago comes on the heels of the MGA suspending Rush Gaming's license as well. Effective from January 9, 2024, Rush Gaming can no longer provide online gambling services. The operator is required to grant its registered users access to their accounts and proceed with the refund process for outstanding balances.
The Malta Gaming Authority remains steadfast in enforcing regulations to maintain the integrity of the gambling industry in Malta.
