Delaware witnessed a remarkable surge in sports betting revenue during December 2023, marking a substantial year-on-year increase. The sector raked in an impressive $2.1 million, a 50% surge compared to the previous year and a staggering 264.1% increase from November 2023's $576,800.

In December, Delaware residents enthusiastically placed bets worth $5.8 million on sports, surpassing the figures from the same period in 2022 by 7.3%. It even outshone November's $8.1 million wagers by an 8.6% margin.

Delaware's First Online Sportsbook

Delaware Park led the sports wagering market with $302,801 in revenue from a $2.1 million handle. Following closely was Bally's Dover, with $161,432 generated from $1.1 million in bets. Harrington Raceway secured the third position with $65,701 from $448,031.

December also marked a historic moment with the launch of Delaware's inaugural online sportsbook, powered by Rush Street Interactive (RSI) and BetRivers. The sportsbook soft-launched on December 27 and went fully live a week later, contributing an additional $1.5 million in revenue from $5.2 million in wagers placed with retailers during the month.

Steady Online Casino Performance

Simultaneously, Delaware's online casino segment showed resilience, maintaining steady revenue despite a reduction in player spending in December. The sector generated $1.2 million in revenue, matching the same month in 2022 and marking a 9.1% increase compared to November 2023's $1.1 million.

Video lottery accounted for $968,264 of December revenue, while table games contributed $174,138, and poker rake and fees amounted to $24,191.

However, players wagered $31.3 million on igaming in December, a 29.4% decline compared to December 2022, and 2.5% lower than November's $32.1 million. Total winnings for the month reached $30.2 million.

Delaware Park continued its dominance in the igaming sector, recording revenue of $448,699 from a $17.6 million handle, followed by Bally's Dover with $433,402 from $7.9 million and Harrington with $284,490 off $5.9 million.
