Fanatics Betting and Gaming (FBG) has unveiled its Fanatics Sportsbook and Casino in Pennsylvania, with a soft launch taking place under the supervision of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board. What sets this launch apart is that there are no restrictions on customer sign-ups or playtime.
This marks FBG's 11th state where its sportsbook is now available, while the online casino is the second of its kind following West Virginia. PointsBet customers, after being acquired by FBG in August 2023, were given the opportunity to migrate their accounts to the Fanatics Sportsbook app on the day of its release.
FBG, headquartered in New York, claims to be a disruptor in the sports betting industry, offering unique features like the FanCash loyalty scheme, personalized experiences, and live streaming options. Additionally, the casino segment boasts an exciting lineup of slots and new games through its partnership with Light & Wonder. Exclusive content produced by Fanatics Games Studio is also in the pipeline, with more games slated for release later this year.
Pennsylvania's gambling market experienced a historic year in 2023, generating an all-time high of $5.7 billion in revenue, driven by record-breaking figures in igaming and sports betting. The potential in Pennsylvania's igaming market is significant, with the industry expected to surpass $2 billion in revenue in 2024.
FBG's expansion into Pennsylvania positions them against industry giants like FanDuel and DraftKings, who have established partnerships with Valley Forge Casino Resort and Hollywood Casino at the Meadows. FanDuel currently leads Pennsylvania's sports betting market with $233.6 million in revenue, while DraftKings follows with $121.1 million. In the realm of igaming, Hollywood Casino at Penn National topped the revenue rankings with $61 million, followed by Valley Forge Casino Resort with $41.3 million and Rivers Casino Philadelphia with $31.3 million. FBG CEO Matt King expressed excitement about competing with these industry leaders, highlighting the challenge ahead.
