Curaçao's New Regulatory Era

In a groundbreaking development, the Curaçao Gaming Control Board (GCB) has recently issued its first batch of licences under the new regulatory regime. This marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of Curaçao's gambling sector, and it comes just 12 weeks after the initiation of the licensing process.

Swift License Issuance

White Star, a subsidiary of Rhino Entertainment Group, has successfully secured a new licence for its CasinoDays operation in Curaçao. Additionally, Games and More, Geeka Corporation, and Small House have obtained Digital Seals, solidifying their positions under the updated regulations.

The Licensing Process

The licensing process was initiated when the registration portal opened in September, with actual registrations commencing on November 1st. This portal has been processing new applications under the existing legislation, with the GCB also overseeing the registration of sub-licensees who wish to continue operating after the implementation of the National Ordinance for Games of Chance (LOK).

A Look to the Future

As the LOK takes effect, the new Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) will come into play. Cedric Pietersz, the new GCB managing director, expressed excitement about the surge in submissions, highlighting White Star's licensure as a significant milestone. Rhino CEO Ross Parkhill praised Curacao's commitment to responsible gaming and looked forward to a fruitful partnership with the GCB.

Clarifying the Situation

While the new regulatory regime has garnered support, there has been some confusion. Reports that the LOK had been rejected were proven false, and Curaçao's Minister of Finance, Javier Silvania, condemned the misinformation. He clarified that the licence issuing process by the GCB remains unchanged, aiming to provide clarity in the midst of the evolving regulatory landscape.
