Caesars to Launch Online Sports Betting in North Carolina

Caesars Entertainment has announced a significant development in the world of sports betting. The company is set to launch its mobile sports betting platform in North Carolina, following an expansion of its partnership with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. This exciting news comes just in time for the launch of North Carolina's online sports betting market on 11th March, and Caesars is gearing up to accept sign-ups and deposits for its Caesars Sportsbook app starting from 1st March.

Approval and Exclusive Rights

The North Carolina State Lottery Commission recently approved the launch date for online sports betting, which will be available to those aged 21 and over. This launch coincides with the highly anticipated March Madness, with Charlotte, North Carolina, hosting some of the early-round games. Caesars Entertainment already operates two land-based casinos in collaboration with the Cherokee tribe: Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort in Cherokee and Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel in Murphy.

As part of this expanded partnership, Caesars will now have exclusive rights to offer mobile sports wagering at these two casinos and on Eastern Band of Cherokee tribal lands in western North Carolina. Eric Hession, President of Caesars Digital, expressed his excitement about the expanded deal and the opportunities it presents for both parties. He highlighted the company's longstanding relationship with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and emphasized the responsible enjoyment of sports for North Carolinians aged 21 and older.

Mutual Benefits

Michell Hicks, Principal Chief of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, also spoke positively about the venture, highlighting the enhancements it will bring to their tribal enterprise. The partnership reflects Caesars' commitment to providing premier sports wagering experiences and deepening its connection with the people of North Carolina.

Following the Trend

Caesars Entertainment joins the ranks of other major players in the industry making strategic moves in North Carolina's sports betting market. BetMGM and DraftKings have already secured agreements to launch their operations in the state by partnering with sports teams, leagues, or venues within North Carolina. This growing interest in the region is a clear indication of the potential for the sports betting industry in the state.

As the launch date approaches, the sports betting landscape in North Carolina is becoming increasingly exciting, with major operators like Caesars Entertainment positioning themselves to offer a thrilling sports wagering experience to residents and visitors alike.
