New Hampshire Sports Betting Market Sees Continued Decline in January

Decline in Player Spending

Player spending in New Hampshire's sports betting market witnessed a significant decline in January. The total amount wagered stood at $73.3 million, marking a 24.6% decrease compared to January of the previous year. Additionally, this figure was 7.0% lower than December's total, marking the second consecutive month of decline.

Revenue Fluctuations

Gross gaming revenue in the state exhibited mixed results. While there was a 20.3% decrease compared to January 2023, revenue saw a 27.3% increase from December, reaching $12.3 million. Of this revenue, $8.9 million stemmed from online betting, with an additional $951,079 generated from retail sportsbooks across New Hampshire.

Dominance of DraftKings

DraftKings continued to hold a monopoly as the exclusive operator in New Hampshire's online sports betting market. Since November 2019, DraftKings has maintained this position after securing the rights to operate in the state.

Year-to-Date Figures

Despite the downturn in January, year-to-date figures for sports betting in New Hampshire surpassed $450.0 million. Online betting accounted for the majority of this amount, with $390.8 million attributed to DraftKings, while retail facilities contributed $60.1 million.

Tax Contributions

Tax revenue from sports betting amounted to $20.9 million year-to-date, with online activity contributing $18.6 million and retail betting $2.3 million. In January alone, tax revenue reached $4.5 million, with online betting representing the majority of this total at $4.0 million, while retail betting contributed $427,987.
