Controversy Erupts

In a recent incident that sparked controversy, Sportsbet decided to shut down the betting market for the final race at Maitland Greyhound Track. This action was taken following a racist comment that appeared on the platform's live feed. The comment targeted Ezra Man, a greyhound named after an indigenous Australian rugby player, Ezra Mam.

Recurring Racism

This incident wasn't isolated. Earlier, Ezra Mam had faced another racism-related controversy when a fellow player, Spencer Leniu, called him a derogatory term during a National Rugby League exhibition match. Leniu received an eight-match suspension for his actions. However, racism persisted as shortly after, a racist comment emerged directed towards Mam, tarnishing the greyhound's race.

Response and Condemnation

Sportsbet and Greyhound Racing NSW swiftly condemned the racist remark. A spokesperson from Sportsbet expressed extreme disappointment over the incident and emphasized their zero-tolerance policy towards such behavior. Greyhound Racing NSW echoed similar sentiments, asserting that appropriate action had been taken against the perpetrator.
