Support for Tropicana Workers

The impending demolition of the Tropicana in Las Vegas is set to make room for a new baseball stadium, but it brings uncertainty for many employees. Bally’s, however, is taking proactive steps to assist these workers in finding alternative employment.

Closure Plans and Employee Transition

Ameet Patel, Senior Vice President and regional manager at Bally’s, confirmed the scheduled closure of Tropicana on April 2. Despite this, there have been no unforeseen changes to the timeline. Patel highlighted that many employees have already sought new opportunities, leading Tropicana to scale down its operations gradually.

Job Fairs and Positive Feedback

Bally’s organized job fairs to facilitate discussions between employees and potential employers, both within and outside the gaming industry. Patel expressed satisfaction with the response, stating that approximately 70-80% of the 700 workers are expected to secure new positions.

Bidding Interest from Standard General

Standard General, with a 23% stake in Bally’s, has expressed interest in acquiring the company. Although their initial bid was unsuccessful, a recent offer marked a significant increase in share price. Bally’s is yet to make a decision regarding this proposal, awaiting further deliberation by a dedicated committee.
